For a company to be certified to the Spyware Checkmark, the product must be able to detect Trojans, Key-Loggers, Cookies and other assorted Malware in the West Coast Labs Spyware test suite. The product should not cause any false alarms (based on testing against the West Coast Labs alarm test suite). Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 successfully passed testing and registered satisfying results, thereby following in the tradition of the previous generation of products from Kaspersky Lab.

Checkmark certification attests to the fact that software and hardware security systems meet stringent quality standards. The independent test laboratory of West Coast Labs, a British scientific research centre, determines criteria and carries out testing.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 was tested in several categories, including Antivirus Level 2. For Level 2 certification, an antivirus program must successfully detect and disinfect all viruses on the "in the wild" list. Kaspersky Anti-Virus was successful in all tests and immediately received three Checkmark certifications: Antivirus Level 1, Antivirus Level 2, and Trojan. |

July 2005Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Version 5.0 successfully passed certification tests carried out on the Microsoft Windows XP platform by the international research center West Coast Labs in the Spyware protection category. Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal now holds the Spyware Checkmark certificate.
In order to receive the Spyware Checkmark certification, an antivirus product must comply with a number of criteria. The product must effectively block spyware from the West Coast Labs test suite, which consists of samples of spyware programs that exists in the real world. Furthermore, the product should not generate false positives or other errors caused by faulty detection.
